We completed the trainings organized for the public and NGO employees who work with disadvantaged groups in the Southeastern Anatolia Region.

As part of “support programs,” Maya Vakfı designs and provides customized trainings that can be adapted to programs of the institutions that work with disadvantaged groups.

The aim of these trainings is to improve sensitivity towards trauma and enhance the capacity of various individuals and institutions for mental health and psychosocial support. Furthermore support programs are offered for field teams to deal with the emotional burnout they might experience. In this context, 16 trainings were provided in nine provinces in the period from October 2017 to February 2018.

The number of public and NGO employees that participated in the trainings totaled 284. During the two-day trainings, participants attended workshops on a variety of topics such as general principles of dealing with trauma, working with traumatized groups and recognizing and identifying trauma. The trainings also provided general information on disasters and psychological first aid as well as improving the self-care skills of the employees.
